On a Personal Note: Oops, Didn’t I Tell You?
Okay, so I’ve been a bit remiss. A few of my readers have been surprised when they find out that I’m expecting a baby very soon, which means that I must not have shared that little detail in my ezine! It’s a big oversight…
So here’s the big announcement, for those of you who haven’t heard: We’re adding to our family in three and a half weeks (give or take). Our daughter will have a baby sister, and our lives will change once again! The pregnancy has been without incident, and I’m feeling healthy (albeit large). Our oldest was right on time, so we’re expecting that this one will be too. But you never know. I suppose it could be any time. I was thinking yesterday, “Hmmm… I suppose I ought to pack my bag for the hospital.” Perhaps I’ll get to that after publishing my ezine.
The last several weeks have been a flurry of activity… I’ve been wrapping up projects and my many responsibilities. I’ll be stepping down as Editor of the Worldwide Association of Business Coaches’ eZine, Business Coaching Worldwide, at the end of the year, cutting back my hours significantly at Professional Education Institute (the coaching company for which I do coach training and develop and deliver coaching and training programs), and I’m not saying “yes” to anything new right now. I was chatting with a colleague the other day, and he was wondering if I’d noticed a difference in my focus on the pregnancy and the baby the second time around. As I reflected on that, I realized that because it’s been so busy and my family focus has been primarily on my daughter, it’s been a challenge to really “pay attention” to the pregnancy. Maybe that’s partially why I’m only now making the announcement. And perhaps that’s why it seems like this pregnancy has really gone quickly.
I’ve had so many requests for updates and photos when the baby is born, I decided last week to set up a “blog” (or “weblog” for the uninitiated; it’s like an online diary or chronological log of thoughts). I plan to include some of our thoughts as we’re preparing, and photos and updates when our little one is born. And perhaps it will turn into a fun family project afterwards… after all, I did entitle it The Hurd Herd. You can find it at http://hurdherd.blogspot.com.
