Recommended Resource: What People Search For
Ever wonder what people search for through the search engines? Here’s a great list of resources at SearchEngineWatch:
http://searchenginewatch.com/facts/article.php/2156041
The ones I found most interesting:
Metaspy: A list of the top ten current searches at metacrawler.com, automatically refreshed every 15 seconds. http://www.metaspy.com/info.metac.spy/metaspy/ (Umm… I chose the filtered version)
Overture Keyword Selector Tool: Designed for those purchasing keywords for targeted ads, this will show you the popularity of terms (based on web searches in the previous month) similar to the one you enter. http://inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion/
Interesting for everyone, invaluable for those trying to find out what consumers are currently thinking about or most interested in.
A related tool gives you the most popular websites through Alexa’s popularity tracking tools and user reviews: http://www.alexa.com/site/ds/top_500. Click on the “Browse By Subject” link if you’re interested in the most popular sites for a specific area of interest.
